Outlook application error (2000 SP-1)

I am running OL 2K on Win 2K, and everything has been fine
for months. Now I am getting the following error from
Outlook:

Outlook.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x3f99943c" referenced memory
at "0x000000000". The memory could not be "read".

My only option is to terminate the program. This looks
like a classic null pointer problem. But since it just
started to happen I wondered if somehow my installation
got corrupted. So I did the check installation integrity
throuhgh Office setup, to no avail. I also updated my
install from SP1 to SP2, but still no help. OL crashes
after a few minutes of use, and it seems to crash after
about the same interval each time. I can't make it crash,
it just does it on its own. It does not seem related to
viewing e-mails, sending/receiving, etc.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Which Virus Scan program do you run?

Have you run a full (all files) scan with the most recent Virus definition files to make sure you are clean?

Lastly, can you try isolating if one of your RAM chips is going bad? Pull one SIMM out, and operated Outlook... see if it crashes, then try the others one by one? Just a thought.

Solution Re: Outlook application error (2000 SP-1)

The problem was in Netfolders, which I had recently turned on. I used the add-in manager to
remove it, and my problems went away.
Thanks, though, for your suggestion. I had already tried both turning off my virus scanner (Norton) and updating and doing a full scan.
Now I think I understand why MS took out the Netfolders feature in the latest version of OL....

Solution Re: Outlook application error (2000 SP-1)

We just upgraded our machines to Office XP and now one my users is getting the same error you posted. My are at instruction 0x1b04d13e referenced memory at 0x1b04d13e. THe memory could not be "read".

She does not have Netfolders on. Is there any way we find out what is going on?

Solution Re: Outlook application error (2000 SP-1)

Sorry, I don't have any more info than I had already posted: turning off Netfolders solved my problem. Of course the problem may not have been directly related to Netfolders, perhaps only indirectly related. Good luck...
