    i have a acer laptop with windows vista home premium sp2. when i try to update adobe reader it comes up with and error of 1500 and then saids windows installer is corrupt. i uninstalled adoe reader and reinstalled it but it still won't update and i still get error 1500 - windows installer is corrupt. please help to fix this problem without hveing to reinstall windows vista. thank you

    Check out this fix that has worked for some (Post 9 mentions Adobe install/uninstall).

    Another one to check out. Here is a Microsoft link to a new Windows Installer version 4.5 available for download.

    There may be some help from MS here.

    Another possibility is downloading the windows installer as discussed here. The link for the Windows Installer is provided here.

    It does appear that several forums have listed reverting to an earlier point with system restore has helped. I hope some of this helps.
