    Hi,

I am trying to get a XP Print Driver to work on Windows 7 but is not successful so far. My printer is a Canon MP190 AIO. Have tried looking for a 7 driver but can only find Vista driver.

Will installing XP mode allows the use of the printer?

It should. Have you tried an earlier driver (vista XP) installed in compatibility mode?

to do that right click the installer>properties>compatibility>choose OS

Be advised you do need Win 7 Pro or above to install XP Mode. You do not say what version you have. The printer should have full features when run in XP Mode, but as mentioned compatibility mode may work.

Have you tried using the Vista driver in Win7? You may have to run the installation program in compatability mode but the driver may work.

Installing the printer driver in the XP mode VM will enable you to print from within XP mode applications, but will not enable you to print from the Win7 desktop, because if you share the printer in the XP machine and try to use it in Win 7 then Win 7 will want to install a local driver for it.

Most of the time Vista drivers are OK in Win 7, but they have to be 64 bit drivers if you are running 64 bit Win 7. That's my problem with a couple of "old" HP printers (all of 5 years) - no 64 bit driver and there never will be.

Compatibility mode is the way to go, it may even work. Good luck.

Compatibility mode doesn't work if the problem is no 64 bit drivers for older printers. The only solutions are to use 32 bit win 7 or retire the printer.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

I have tried Vista drivers but do not work. I will test out the XP Mode. My Windows 7 is the Ultimate 32-bit version.

Canon lists a Pixma MP190 AIO here with Win 7 32 Bit and 64 Bit drivers. Is this your printer? It is the only MP190 on the Canon site.
