I installed Windows 7 last January from a copy I purchased. I ran Windows Upgrades yesterday, and this morning I received the message "Windows 7, Build 7600, This copy of Windows is not genuine".

I have reviewed my update history and all the updates have been successful. When I try to enter in my Product Key in Control Panel, System, it says Microsoft has blocked this number. There was a Microsoft automated phone number I called and read off a group of numbers and the automated voice said this is blocked and hung up.

My copy is valid. How do I get this restored? Thanks.

Contact Microsoft, as you may have been sold a invalid copy.
Where did you buy this copy?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Thanks for your reply. Since I purchased this copy last January, I sent an e-mail to elecsurf.com, where I made the purchase. Since this product is under a 1 year warranty from them, they sent me a new activation code. After installing this, I am now up and running.

I find this issue to be troubling. I have never tried to activate the original key more than once, I have never provided the number to anyone. I stay current on all Microsoft upgrades and am current with Norton 360. Since this happened the day following Microsoft Upgrades, I am suspect that this could have caused the issue. The upgrade history shows all upgrades as successful.

Now I can relax once more, well, at least until the next incident.

Again, thank you for your fast reply. This is the first time I have been in your lobby.

Yes, this was because of a update. These pirated numbers are added all the time. You may not have released the numbers, but some one had.
Again I would look at the source of the purchase, but they were good enough to "Just" give another set of numbers.
Hope this does not happen with the new key code.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

This might be one of those cases where contacting MS because the key(s) are suspect would be in order. MS, in my experience with them, has been very understanding and helpful in similar situations.

Elecsurf.com appears to be a legitimate business, although they are not BBB accredited.

I find the fact that you had to go back to the seller to get a product key somewhat troubling.
