I just changed my DNS server settings. Obviously I can still connect to the net. but there is one site that I connect to fine in IE8, that now is giving me a "invalid security certificate error" if I try to log on using Firefox, saying that it is only valid for *.opendns.com.

My connection was fine before the DNS change, and in fact I get no error if I try IE 8.

    How can I fix this?

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

    Change the DNS settings back?

What service are you using that requires a certificate issued by OpenDNS? Certificates are issued to the organisation using them, this implies you are accessing OpenDNS?

    cheers, Paul

If I change it back, it works fine. But why can't I set the DNS to whatever? That seems strange!

    And I use 1and1...

Exactly when do you get the "invalid certificate error" message?

    cheers, Paul

Paul, I get it at not all but some sites, when I first try to access them. and yet, if I put the DNS back on "auto" the error goes away.

Paul, I apologize, but I can't, as they are (school) class sites and "members only".

For the time I'll just go back to "automatics" DNS and deal with this when I have more time -- any time, just not today!

    Thanks,
    Chuck
