Will this install & run on a newly purchased computer with Windows 7?
What programs on my XP will work on a new Windows 7 computer?

    Thanks,

    David

There is some difference of opinion on whether Office 2000 will install and run correctly on Win 7. The gist was that If you're a business / power user of Office, there is no point sticking with a product that had it mainstream support ended in 2004 and extended support finished last year. So, no more service packs, no more security fixes. If you use office to type one word pages in word or very simple spread sheets, perhaps it might work. Microsoft shows the following compatibility.

The biggest issue to consider is that support has ended. No more security updates!!!

    Hi David,

The last time I checked, Office 2000 was not compatible, but that may have changed. You can look at the the Windows 7 Compatibility Center for up to date information.

    Hi David,

I have successfully installed MS Office 2000 on a Gateway SX 2802-01 desktop and a Toshiba Satellite L505 laptop both running Windows 7 Home Premium X64. MS Office 2000 did NOT run after I initially installed it.

The way I got it to execute I:
    1. Uninstalled MS Office 2000; I use Revo Uninstaller.
    2. Uninstalled the trial version of MS Office that came with the PC's.
    3. Cleaned the registry; I use CCleaner.
    4. Installed MS Office 2000.

    Hope this works for you.

    Bob

Good morning to all users of O2K.

I have this one CD of Office and it is O2K, I have installed it on all the different OSs that I have used, W2K of course, Me, XPP and Vista, it ran fine from day-1, no need to defeat anything or work-around anything either. I used to be power-user of Office and Excel, days gone but I still use it fully, occasionally. It is now running on W-Se7en.

Not a single problem, it installed fine, not one hiccup, in spite of all the advice from sellers of all my machines who insisted that I purchase a copy of newer applications Office 2003 et all.

I fooled the system ? Not really, it is not designed to be a brat. FWIW !
