What is causing this message box? I don't want to change the template I'm using, I just want to save the document.

Templates may be changed by saving an AutoText entry, by editing a style and making that change the default, or by creating/editing a macro. If you get the message even if you do nothing but start Word and then exit it, then usually the culprit is a global template or other add-in.

The dialog is being called because something has been changed in the template. This may be something you have done or it may be caused by an add-in loading a change to a template - Acrobat's PDFMaker was notorious for this type of thing.

If this dialog appears all the time when you close a document (or exit the application) then it will be caused by an add-in rather than anything you did. Try Phil Rabichow's Systematic Approach to behavioral Problems in Word.
