I have an Emachine running Windows XP Pro. The hard drive is advertised as 120GB but only 111.78GB shows up as the total capacity. Originally I had a restore partition on this disk which no longer shows up. How can I find out what happened to the 8GB of drive??

Most any partition program manager's bootable disk will reveal whether or not you have a hidden partition.

Sounds like you are suffering from disk manufacturer marketing!
If I had a disk with 120,000,000,000 Bytes of space and converted that to Giga Bytes I would use size / 1024 / 1024 / 1024. First convert to kB, then MB, then GB, resulting in 111.17GB.

    cheers, Paul
