Looking for a little advice here.

Our mail system contains an "Everyone" distribution list, which naturally contains the names of all mail users here. There are good uses of that, but we also occasionally get some users who send messages to "Everyone" when they really shouldn't. We do try to keep a handle on that kind of stuff when it happens, but management is wishing that we can take more control.

Is there some way in AD/Exchange/Outlook that would allow, for example, the "Everyone" list to exist, but only be available to certain users?

Does anyone else have any advice on this kind of thing?

    Thanks,
    Denis

If you are using Exchange 2007 or 2010 you can use the Management Console and set Delivery Restictions in Properties | Mail Flow tab for the distribution group.

We've created a distribution lists that might interest you as well. We have a list called "Classifieds" that is an "opt in" list. Users who opt in can read the email addressed to Classifieds and all users are instructed that this is the mail list to use when sending non-business related email, such as "Puppies for sale," "Events occuring down town this weekend," "Free theatre tickets," etc. - basically, anything you might see in the Classifieds section of a newspaper. Anyone not using this distro list when they should be gets a firm "talkin' to."

Thanks for the tips, people. I found a solution for the main issue, but we're going to take a look at that "Classifieds" list, too.

    Thank you!
