    Saving Normal.dot (Word97)

    Hi,

    Whenever I change a macro in Word I would like to be able to save NORMAL.DOT without closing Word.

    Does anyone have a macro to do this, as it does not seem possible to do this in Word other than by closing Word and then restarting it.

    I do understand that Word seems to realise that NORMAL.DOT has been modified as it appears to incorporate it into the Autosave facility once changes have been made.

    Hi Peter,

    If you go to the VB Editor, make sure that your insertion point is in any code module that belongs to Normal.dot, and then Save, that should suffice to save Normal.dot.

    Another way to achieve the same thing would be, again in the VB Editor, to locate the ThisDocument module under Normal.dot in the Project Explorer window - ThisDocument can be found by expanding "Microsoft Word Objects" which should be visible right under "Normal".
    Once you click on "ThisDocument", Normal.dot's properties should become visible in the Properties window. Scroll down and locate the Saved property, and change the value of this property to True.

    I guess a macro would be easier than either of the above - the following should do it:

    Public Sub SaveNormalTemplate()
    Application.NormalTemplate.Save
    End Sub

    Hi Peter,

    You can save modification to Normal.dot at any time by holding <Shift> and clicking File/Save All in the main Word window.
