I never installed KB971033 update because I have a legitimate bought and paid for copy of Win 7, but it's still available, should I install it or not.

Yes, you should install it. It is my understanding that it will be very difficult to maintain all of the necessary security patches and updates without it.

    Jim,
Hello. As usual there are several sides to this issue http://bro.ws/775636L you might want to take a look at them. I'm not sure as to where i fall in this mix ..... just want to think about it a bit more Regards Fred

Yes, you'll have to install it eventually, but I see no rush.

The thread Fred has linked pretty much beats this topic to death. Please view that thread for a much more than adequate discussion on this subject.

    Jim,

Block it and take a wait and see position. I blocked it and have had no ill affects. I don't need to re-iterate my views about WGA and Microsoft anti-pirate campaign. I'll only say this, unless it can be proven , I don't believe software piracy here in he US has any significant affect on product cost. If piracy were to be eliminated tomorrow does anybody really think prices will be reduced or not be increased? Another excuse would be had to charge the consumer over inflated prices for a product that basically does the same thing that it's been doing for the past 10 years. I just received an e-mail from MS about the new Office 10. The difference in price from the Home and Student version verses the Office Pro version is $350. And the difference is the inclusion of 3 modules that can be had as free or nearly free software from other sources. Sorry, for straying off topic.
