I've started getting DEP error notices in Explorer recently, maybe twice a week,or so.
I let XP restart Explorer and go on with my life.
But now I'm beginning to worry about a possible HD failure or something.
I think this error comes from a suspicious location being used, right?
Anything I can do to track down the problem?

Ron, check out this MS Knowledge Base article as well as this one on DEP for information on DEP.

Check out this link and particularly the two links in Post 2 for troubleshooting help. Nirsoft makes some excellent troubleshooting tools.

    Hope this helps.

    Gerald,
Thanks for the help. I'll be looking at any shell extensions that might be the problem.
By the way, my ZoneAlarm firewall is warning me about the Nirsoft site as one that has downloaded viruses. I wonder why?

See Antivirus companies cause a big headache to small developers. for Nir Sofer's take on it.
