I had to reformat and reinstall Win XP. Now I get a screen at power up that asks me to select
an "operating system to start". It is a white text on black background screen that says:
'Please select the operating system to start' followed by 2 duplicate lines: "Windows XP Media
Center Edition' (which is the installed OS). That is followed later by lines that ask me to high
light my choice and to press ENTER to choose. That is followed by a line of text that includes
a count down figure 'until automatic startup' if nothing is chosen.
I have used Win 3.1, 98, and now XP, but have never before seen this screen.
How can I get rid of this screen?

Thank you, thank you, MERCYH. That did the trick. I had to retry entering the
ID # item four times before I hit the right, acceptable, combination (ID 2).
After reading all the text at that KB, I thought I might have to perform more
than one edit, including one for the 'default' line entry, but I tried a restart
after just removing one of the two identical OS items, and that type of screen
did not show up upon the first restart. Wonderful, thanks again.
