the advertisements speech recognition software gives the impression that this group of applications is trouble-free. Some individuals in the last thread said that these applications make a lot of errors while others have good experiences with them. The question is whether or not it needs to be more realism around the capabilities of this software. Many organizations use this software as a way to provide accommodations to employees with disabilities; this is a lot of value to the software. Some students state that this group of software can save your wrists. Some experiences indicate that the companies that sell this software are not very receptive to customer service complaints and use the "blame the user" when the software does not work as expected.

I have used Dragon Dictate Preferred V9 (primarily directly into MS Word) for some time and find it remarkably accurate (and it gets better the more you use it since it "learns" to understand the way you speak and the words you use regularly). If, however, you regularly use jargon or technical terms, then don't expect too much!

The poll at the start of this thread should, in my opinion, allow an additional choice of "not bad, but poor with technical, specialist terms and jargon".
