Eye Hand Coordination Test

Attempt to catch and hold the slider bar with the mouse cursor while long threads are loading.

I used to do that, then I discovered that long threads load to the newest entry -- sometimes. How come it is only sometimes? First I thought it only worked for the first thread of a forum. Then I discovered that clicking or moving the mouse causes the load to display at that location.

Is there something I am missing?

    Re: Eye Hand Coordination Test

If you go into a thread from the list of threads it will load to the newest post (unless you're messing about with the mouse) but if you use the previous/next buttons when you are already viewing a thread, it just loads to the top. I think Leif explained this in more detail about a month ago but I can't find the thread. I don't think you're missing anything - it's just that the first post you read will be accessed from the list but the rest you will probably access from the next/previous buttons. Does that help any?

Not stupid Lounge tricks but some stupid loungers some of the time and sometimes some of us are more stupid than others.

BTW meant to thank you for making it load to the newest post but it didn't seem to be consistent and was driving me stupider. Now that I have had it explained and can take proper advantage of it I do sincerely thank you. And for all the other neat lounge tricks.

    Re: Eye Hand Coordination Test

This has probably been asked before, but is this for both flat and thread modes?

Whenever I click on a post in Thread mode, from the forum index, I ALWAYS get the original post....

    Re: Eye Hand Coordination Test

I think when it doesn't work is using the next / previous buttons in flat mode.
Possibly the ideal way to browse is from the forum index and opening up a new window for each thread (hold down shift when you click on the link) as:

You jump straight to the newest post

If you reply to a post, you don't lose your position[/list]When you have finished with a thread, simply close the window.

Possibly the only disadvantage I can see in this method is that if spend any time working through the index, it may well have changed by the time you think you have finished with it - e.g. a new thread or reply may have been posted. I do not think this will show up from the main index menu as a new post as when you leave a forum index, you reset the 'new' markers.

    Re: Eye Hand Coordination Test

I just discovered that if someone posts a new post (?!) while you're leafing through a board and you finish by hitting 'up' to go to the index, it will tell you that there is a new post - so it seems to be since you last looked at the index rather than when you last looked at anything on that board? Of course, that post might have been posted just at the precise second when I left the post I was reading and returned to the index ...
