    Hi all,

Did a quick search of the forum but couldn't see this one (or wasn't searching with the correct terms) - when I do a Find in Word, the formatting appears to default to Outline. Has anyone seen this and is there an easy fix?

That sounds like bizzare activity to me - when I do a find in Word 2007 it highlights the first instance it finds searching from the top, but the view doesn't change. Do you have a bunch of macros in your Normal template? Or do you have some Word add-ins installed?

Thanks for the reply Wendell. No, there's been a bit of a misunderstanding. The view of the document doesn't change, but the find box has this:

The format under the "Find What" box seems to default to Outline...

If you click on the "More >>" button, you should then see a button that says "No Formatting". Clicking on that should remove the Outline format from the Find properties.

OK - now I understand. The More >> button lets you chose a number of other options in your Find operation in addition to the characters. If you click that button you will see several additional options. One of those is labeled No Formatting - click that and the "Outline" you are seeing now should go away.

Thanks for that Gary & Wendall. Do you know of a way to make it not default to the outline format though?
