My O/S is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
Recently I changed printers. Replaced one printer and added another one.
Now when I go to print, in the Print box that opens, in the Name drop down
box, all of the old printers are still listed. Even the first printer I installed, and
    have not used in awhile!
My question is: How do I delete these printers and uninstall their drivers?
The old printers do not show up in "Devices and Printers"
This version of Win 7 does not have "Print Manager" in "Computer Management".
Also, I seem to be unable to add a snap-in for "Print Manager" The two
printers that I have installed, connected and am using, are listed in
"Device Manager". The other printers are not listed in "Device Manager"

Does anyone have any ideas how I can delete, remove, uninstall these
unused printer? There are five that I want to remove.

    Thank you.

    Saint, Welcome to the Lounge,

If I understand you correctly the old printers do not show up in Devices and Printers, or in Device Manager, but the new printers do. All the printers, both old and new show up in the drop down list in your printer window. What happens when you try to print with the old printers from the drop down list, how about the new printers? I suspect you may still have some services running for the old printers. Check msconfig.exe and look in the services tab. Did you uninstall the old printers or just delete them? You may have to use an app such as CCleaner to clean up the registry from an uninstall that did not remove all the entries.

Saint, have you checked Control Panel's Programs and Features (equal to XP's Add/Remove Programs) to see if the old printer drivers still show there as installed?

You could consider using "Guru 3D - Driver Sweeper" to ensure that all traces of the old drivers have been removed from your pc and then install the latest driver(s).
You can download Driver Sweeper from the following site: http://downloads.guru3d.com/

Note: Use Driver Sweeper with caution (save a fresh complete image of your system before-hand in case you select too much to be cleaned!)

Open Device manager. Click on View and then Show Hidden Devices. Do your old printers show up now?

Hi Ted, That is correct. I do not remember if I removed or deleted the Printers. If I print to those, I get a "Printing" dialog box
just as normal. None of them show up in the Services tab of MSCONFIG.

Gerald. That was one of the first places I looked. No joy there, as they were not listed.

I have not tried any of the Registry Cleaners, yet!

Witalka. None of the ghost printers show up in Device Manager, Hidden Devices.

I just got an email from a friend detailing another thing to try.
Will let you know the results shortly.

    Thanks everyone!

    SUCCESS!
Ok, my friend had the answer.
    Open "Devices and Printers"
    Select a printer.
    Open "Print Server Properties"
    Select the "Drivers" tab.
    Select a Ghost Printer.
    Click the "Remove" button!
Repeat for for each printer that is to be deleted.

I had never payed any attention to the "Print Server Properties".
Since I was not running a Print Server, it never occurred to me to
    look there!

    Saint,

I don't know if you can still edit the thread's title, but if so, would you be willing to change it to something like "Win7 Premium Ghost printer issue"?

The content of this could be most helpful to some and may not be found as the thread has quite a generic title....

You should be able to edit the title if you edit the post and switch to the Full Editor.

Good deal. Thanks for editing the Title for me. I was in training and did not have time to follow JoeP's instructions.

    Thanks Gerald and everyone!
