Is there an easy way to automatically format a cell with leading zeros? For example, if the user typed the number one it would automatically format it 0001. We need it to work with both Excel 2000 and 2003.

If you prefer to use a function:

    =TEXT(3,"0000")

produces 0003. Tested using Excel 2003. I don't have Excel 2000, but I think the TEXT function was available in earlier versions of Excel. Worth trying.
