I downloaded Microsoft Office Professional 2007 from a vendor to upgrade from Office 2003. The installation starts but soon I get the Error 1303. Setup cannot access the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Source Engine. Verify that the folder exists in your system and that you ahve sufficient permission to update it.

I verified that the file is where it's supposed to be. However, there's nothing in it. I tried changing the permissions as administrator and was denied access.
Double checked to make sure I was logged in as administrator. I was.

    Now what?

Being logged on as an Administrator is not the same as "Run As Administrator". When you are ready to install the downloaded file, right click it and choose Run As Administrator. This gives higher permissions. This article from MS also talks about permissions in the folder where you are installing the app. I would check both.

Thanks for your help. Changing the settings for C:\Program Files\Common Files fixed the problem. Office 2007 successfully installed. Now looking for the upgrade to Office 2010.
