Table break across page (MSWord 2000)

I created a table in Word and set the table property to break across pages. However, the table does not break. If I add spaces above it, the whole thing goes to the next page. If I add rows at the bottom, the rows continue off the page rather than going to the next page. I have tried copying the table and pasting to a new document, copying just the text and pasting to a new document -- same thing happens. What's going on?

I will take a look at it if you want to attach it.

    Hi Fern,

Your table is floating, so Word is attempting to keep it on the same page. In this instance it is falls under the 'rules' of drawing objects and will not span more than one page.

To correct, go to Table/Properties and set the text wrapping to "None"
