Every morning when I turn on my computer windows will not start. I restart it and then I am given the option of running startup repair. After startup repair runs i am given the option of running system restore. After that the computer starts up and runs fine. I have run virus an malware scans and found nothing.I am running Vista 32 bit. Any ideas what the problem might be?

    More details please.

What version of Vista - Home Premium, Ultimate, etc?
    Is service pack2 installed?
    Is it up-to-date with patches?
How far in the boot process does it get?
Have you made any hardware changes recently?

Vista home premium service pack 2. All updates are installed. No new hardware or software installed. It stalls right as windows starts to launch. I get the bios screen and then nothing. A black screen. Shut it off and back on and I get the startup repair option.

    This could be several things:

1.) A faulty RAM module. Have you tried running any memory tests?

2.) A failing disk drive. Have you run chkdsk?

3.) Power supply - unlikely. Do the machine power off or just sit there with a black screen? Can you still hear the fans?

4.) A faulty device driver - are your video drivers up-to-date?

I strongly recommend you backup your system ASAP.
