My windows 7 file folders and desktop won't refresh. In addition, some applications won't launch.
    Symptoms:

I right click to create a new folder in explorer. It does not show until I hit F5. I delete the folder. It does not vanish until I hit F5. The same this happens when copying files. They donít show until I refresh. Same thing with move, the files donít show in new folder until I F5 and donít vanish from the old until I, you guessed it, hit F5.

In addition to my explorer window, this issue also occurs on the desktop. Icons donít appear/disappear as they should until I hit F5

Thanks for posting back. System restore does not do everything but for some things it "just the ticket:. Too bad you weren't able to find what caused the failure, but glad your problem is solved.
