Replace auto list numbers with text (Word97 SR2)

     I've seen lots of discussions of how to make list numbering work correctly, but I have the opposite problem--I have numbered lists and they work just fine, but I need to convert the numbers to actual static text.

    I know I could always turn off the numbering and type in the text numbers, but these are lists into the hundreds. I'm really hoping to find an easy, quick way to do this.

    My second choice would be to find a hard, quick way.

    Have I missed something hideously obvious?

    Thanks,

    Lin

    Quick and easy:

Sub NumToText()
    ActiveDocument.Range.ListFormat.ConvertNumbersToTe xt
    End Sub

    Hi Lin:

    I see you have an excellent way, but just so you know a non macro way... You can open a document in Wordpad. This will convert the numbers & any fields to text. Then you can copy & paste to a new Word document.
