My internet connectivity is with Earthlink through Time Warner's cable system. (NYCAP.RR.Com). Over the past few weeks I have experienced periods of no internet access. I can still see my router and can ping, but cannot browse. I assume that I have a DNS issue, specifically with the TW DNS servers automatically assigned to my router. I have changed the DNS settings on the router to and and things seem to be working. Does anyone see any issues leaving the DNS settings to Google servers?

    Hi T,

I use OpenDNS. They offer a number of advantages. I switched from the Mediacom cable DNS servers to OpenDNS over a year ago and have been very pleased with the service. They offer a free account, and you can check them out here .

There may not be any issues in leaving your settings to Google DNS servers, but I highly recommend OpenDNS.
