I have noticed that whenever I copy a CD or DVD, and then use Explorer to view the contents, below the file list there is always a note saying there is 1 file waiting to be copied to the disc. The file is always a desktop.ini configuration settings file.

Could someone please tell me what this message really means, and if the desktop.ini file should be copied to the disc how is that done?

    Your help would be appreciated.

    Thanks and regards,
    Roy

Do you have the "Hide protected operating system files" checkmark removed from within the Windows Explorer, tools>>Folder options>>View?

I've noticed that too and find it very annoying. It means that you viewed the CD/DVD contents in Explorer and because of that Explorer created a desktop.ini file to record the viewing options for the CD/DVD. I just ignore it, or you can delete it if you like.

Clint, yes I do have the checkmark removed.

Peter, thanks a lot. I won't worry about this desktop.ini message in future.

    Thanks and regards,
    Roy
