System: Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3

I am having problems synchronizing my offline files. I setup offline files for my laptop and went through and marked the folders I wanted to synchronize – about 5 folders. When I performed the synchronization, all files in “My Documents” started to synch, which includes my archive of about 4000 files.

    What I have done:
o Tried to go to the folders I did not want included in the sync and remove the option to synchronize this folder. The option was disabled.
o Rebooted and tried again – same result.
o Disabled synchronizing offline files altogether.
o Rebooted and went back in to re-enable offline files.
o Immediately all folders in “My Documents” were selected to sync, and I could not disable that option on any folder.

Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

    I appreciate any help.

Offline files have always been problematic. I'd use something like Download details: SyncToy 2.1 instead.

Thank you Joe. This was very helpful and much easier than using offline folders.
