    Hi there! I have a strange problem: As you know, in Excel 2003 you are able to add comments to a cell. When you hoover the mouse arrow over this cell the comment is displayed just fine. But as soon as you select 'Edit comment', the comment field jumps up several screen pages and the 'comment arrow' (?) stretches to an enormous length.
    There weren't any lines added/deleted to the document, that would explain such strange behaviour. If you look into the properties of the comment, you can see that the position of the comment is independent from size or position of the cell.
    I already tried to google for a solution, but all I found was another guy with the same problem. He didn't receive any answer so far. That's why I'm counting on you fellas.
    Thanks for your help!

    Greetz,

    Philipp

    Hi Philipp - During Edit Comment - can the box be resized and made smaller? Also try dragging the Comment box down closer to the cell involved.

    Your sample workbook would be helpful.

    I have attached a sample of what might be happening to you. Notice that the comment in G15 appears and Edits normally, however, F20 comment has been dragged far below F20, thus the long arrow when Editing.

    Hi Tim!

    Sorry for the delay, but I was in some serious trouble and had no time to check back here.
    Anyway, thx for your answer. Regarding your questions:
    Yes, the box can be resized. no problem there. If I drag the comment box closer to the cell I'm also fine, as it will stay there. The real problem is, this workbook features about 21.000 lines and about 17 collumns. You do the math.
    I would love to post the workbook here, but it contains sensitive medical data. I'm afraid I'm not allowed to do that, even though I trust you.
    Btw, your example is an exact match. Only that in my workbook this behaviour is with every comment. You wouldn't happen to know why?

    Cheers,
    Philipp

    Hi Philipp - This code might reset all of your comment boxes. Make sure you have a backup before trying.

    Sub ResetComments()
    Dim cmt As Comment
    For Each cmt In ActiveSheet.Comments
    cmt.Shape.Top = cmt.Parent.Top + 5
    cmt.Shape.Left = _
    cmt.Parent.Offset(0, 1).Left + 5
    Next
    End Sub

    Good morning Tim! (It's about 8 o'clock around here)

    Awesome! That did the trick.
    You just saved me many hours of work buddy. Thx a lot!
    But I'm still curious. Can you tell me how such a thing can happen? I never ran into this before. Is this a bug or were we doing something wrong?

    Thx again and have a nice day.
    Philipp

    Good Morning Philipp - (It' about 7:30am here)

    I'll try to figure out how something like that would have happened. I am guessing that Microsoft's response to such slop appearing would go something like this "It is an undocumented Feature".

    Have a great day.

    Never mind. You don't need to dig into this, I'm glad it worked out.
    You know what the say "It's not a bug, it's a feature".

    See you around
    Philipp
