I uninstalled Sophos tempory fix for Microsoft exploit that was patched today. After uninstalling the notification are box was gone and the icons were just in a row in notification area. I installed Microsoft patch, no change. How do I get the notification area box back? Non tech answer would be great. Thank You

What I'll usually do in such a case is use System Restore to a point before the first patch was applied, whereupon things are back to normal hopefully and then go ahead and apply the latest patch released today (yesterday) again.

Control Panel, Notification area. Check both Turn system icons on or off andd Restore default icon behaviors. See if either of these will help.
