I find it frustrating that the wait (to shut down display) time for the display is dependent only on the absence of keyboard and mouse activity. Certainly, there must be signals in a computer that can be used to sense usage of sound or video. Whether streaming video, Power Point presentations or whatever, it would be nice to keep the display active. Is there a work-around software package available that can sense when the display is not needed so that the display activity can also be a determining factor as to whether the computer is idle, thus beginning the wait time-out interval. I have been just extending the wait interval to 30 minutes or more to work around this situation. Obviously, the display wait feature is still of the 20th century vintage systems and usage needs.
Thank you for your help!
