Have you used these features (Word 2002 (XP))

I was wondering if any one has had the privilege of using the following new features for Word 2002.

    1.The Improved Table of Contents

    2. Bulleted/Numbered Lists

    3. Document Recovery

    4. Application Error Reporting

    5. Application and Document Recovery

    6. Repair and Extract

    Thanks

Have found that the new "List Styles" are a great addition to numbered lists. Don't touch the bullets and numbering under the format menu. Create the list style from the style task pane - and link the list level to whatever styles you (have already) created from there. Also, you can highlight the list numbers and it will highlight which list you are in - if you wish to start numbering - make sure you highlight the whole section you wish to renumber (and not just the first number) and right click and renumber. Word 2002 will highlight the numbered list (the numbers that is) you are in together. And even better - click on a single number - and word 2002 will let you overtype that number - and then will readjust the rest of the list. Have been converting 38,000 documents for a lawfirm over the last two months with Word 2002 and all I can say is I'm glad it's 2002 and not 2000 or previous version.

Document recovery seems to be a hit and miss but can help tremendously at times.

I would love to hear from others on Word 2002 problems and tips also; would appear that "real" information is lacking for the app as of yet

CAVEAT: I went from Word 98 to Word 2002, skipping Word 2K, so if I mention something that in fact was introduced in Word 2K, my apologies...

I've found the application error reporting to be a bit annoying... I finagled PDFMaker into working w/ Word 2002, and the result is I get application errors semi regularly. As you may already know, Word will try to send error messages back to Microsoft via the web (ET phone home!), but at least you can cancel out of the process. Might be nice if this could be disabled with a Tools > Options setting though....

The CTRL+click = jump for cross references is nice (at least for me). No more accidental hopping about the document. And having this capability with the TOC is nice, too.

A new (I think) feature that I love is Document Map (you can find it under the View menu). If you create large, structured documents and use heading styles, Doc Map is an great way to move around. I found it to be well worth the screen real estate. The look of the Doc Map pane can be altered (slightly) to suit personal taste.

Always glad for a chance to kibitz about Word!

    Thanks, both, for your input. It helped. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
