Thread: missing NTLDR

    I used secunia PSI and I had to restart my computer when I did it ran threw the post then I got N T L D R is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to Restart then I tried going in to the Bisa and set it to boot from my DVD I put my sys disk in and got press any key to boot from CD or DVD and I did I got the same message. Dose anybody know what N T L D R is and how I can fix this.

    Are you running Windows 7? The NTLDR is a boot file that was used in Windows XP, Windows 7 no longer uses it.

    How many hard drives do you have? If more than one, one possibility is that the disk book order got changed in the BIOS in which case you should change the boot order.

    Yes I am Running 7 I switch the drives in the bios and know at least I can run the system disk but how do I get it the drive with 7 on it.

    This web site shows how to repair your MBR in Win 7. Perhaps this will help your problem. As Peter states NTLDR is a XP file.
