I often want to watch Task Manager to monitor my old slow machine when I'm on the Interent.
I am clicking back and forth between the 'Performance' and 'Networking' tabs.
Occasionally I can launch a second instance of Task Manager by clicking on the TaskBar and the task Manager option.
Maybe 1 time in 10 this is successful, and ONLY when the machine is slowed by somehting already in progress.
Generaly this occures when paging has worked it's way up to 4, 5, 6, MB.
If I could knock this down I'm thinking performance would improve.
But I've no idea whay the paging is running rampant except that the machine os old and no memory or graphics power has been added.

Is there a way to reliably start and run mutliple instances of Task Manager?

I can verify that Process explorer can be opened in multiple instances, as opposed to the task manager.

Invest a little time and energy in a well thought out BACKUP regimen and you will have minimal down time, and headache.

Build your own system; get everything you want and nothing you don't.
    Latest Build:

Ya, I noticed 'Process' explorer from my searches of the forums.
I'll down load it today. Hope it is to large as I'm on dial-up.
Apparently more and better infor tha poor old Task Manager.

btw when I kill wuauclt.exe (update watcher) it appeares that I reduce PF usage by something less than half.
If I can verify this in further sessions I'll turn it off, do it once a week in late evening.

Next I'm going to search for additional copies of the watcher that might only be luanched by some program or other.

Also I'd like to express my appreciation for all the help, knowledge an dexpereince to be found on Windows Secrets.
