    Re: DirectDraw expired

No, in fact I am beginning to think it was DirectX 8.a that 'caused the problem'.
It is reasonable to think so because I 'updated' both computers with DirectX 8.a
think i will have tiwait for DirectX 9, unless anyone can find a more "definite cure"
    Thanks for your rersponse

If you receive e message Beta Direct Draw expired it means you have B version of DirextX suppose it is DirectX 8.1(DXeng.exe).In order to delete the new version of DirectX 8.1 do the following:
    1.Using REGEDIT.EXE (c:windowssystem), delete following entries(delete the whole key/folder):
    HKEY_LOCAL_MASHINE/Software/Microsoft/Direct3D
    /DirectDraw
    /DirectPlay
    /DirectX
2.Restart the System, using Explorer, delete the following folder:
    c:Program Filesdirectx
3.Then using MS_DOS Promt delete the followinf files:
    c:windowssystemddraw*.*
    dsound*.*
    dinput*.*
    d3d*.*
    ddhelp.exe
    dplayx.dll
    dplay.dll
    dpsockx.dll
    dpsock.dll
    dpserial.dll
-The command for deleting these files in MS_DOS Prompt is :
    c:windows
    cd system
del file's name (the files named above)
4.Restart the system and install the last official
version of DirectX 8a (dx80eng.exe) and if uou want (dx80bda.exe)and(dxmediax86.exe).
IF THE SYSTEM DOESN'T WORK YOU HAVE TO REINSTALL
DIRECTX 8.1. YOU CAN ALWAYS REINSTALL DIRECTX 8.1
BUT THE MESSAGE WILL APPEAR AGAIN.

You can also use <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.directxbuster.de/index_e.html>DirectX Buster</A> to clean up.

    Re: DirectDraw expired

I really appreciate the trouble you have gone to on my behalf. DirectX buster seems to have done the trick in uninstalling. when I re-installed DirectX 8a I got the "beta expired" thing again, so used DirectX buster again, and am no downloading Direct 8.0 and will let you know what happens.
Thank you so much for your help

    Re: DirectDraw expired

Good news. Downloaded a "fresh" version of directX 8a after using DirectX buster again, and it seems as if it is fine now. I will now wait for Direct9 before doing anything else.
Once again thank you very much
    Jules
