This is running on Windows 7 32 Bit

I have an odd situation on a couple of MP3 files.
Just a few in the same directory, and from the same CD
If I view the files using an ID3 editor, I can see the Title, Track, Album, Length details etc
If I view the details in explorer they are not visible.
Also I cannot edit them through properties window, it is locked out.
There is NO extra protection on these files.

Is this a corrupt file issue, or some odd protection on the folder I cannot see.
I had this on files in another folder.
When I deleted them and then brought them in again from a different source they behaved ok.
I tried prior to that copying them out to pen and onto another machine, but could NOT edit the details no matter where I put them.
However the details are editible via an ID3 edit program, BUT even if edited there, the details do NOT show up in the Explorer window.

It only happens to a few.
Anyone any ideas WHY and if there is a solution
    Andrew

Hi Andrew, try copying the offending files to an ext hdd, delete the originals then replace them. Its something to do with permission, but that an entirely different ballgame.

    Makes NO Difference at all.

    Copied out th External HDD.

Tried to change on anaother Win 7 Nachine (No Joy)
Tried it on an older XP Machine (Nope)

Must be something in the file I guess.

Done that, on and off and on, but still cannot view Tag details or Edit tag details with standard windows on the effected Tracks
If I use a tag editor, all the details are there, but no matter what, Windows Explorer refuses to let them be viewed or edited.
In the end I deleted the folder and put them all back in from a different source and now they are ok.
I have no idea of the original cause, BUT I suspect it was when they were ripped from CD.
What was ODD, is that it did not always effect ALL tracks in a folder even if they came from the same source and were put on at the same time.
I am still thinking a bit of Historic Corruption.

Andrew, what tag editor did you use? (I use mp3tag). Did you check files individually or all @ once.

    I checked them BOTH ways.

I tested it with Media Tagger, Audio Shell Tag Editor (recent attempt), and MP3 Tag Tool 1.2
it was Windows that refused to show or allow editing.
All the tag editors were fine, but made no difference.

I have now checked with Mp3tag v2.46a (TOP IDEA).

As soon as tag information was updated with this one, it recovered the data and Windows Explorer
started both showing the Tag Data and also allow editing.

Still none the wiser, but as far as I am concerned, top ID3 editor.
    Got my vote.

    Many Thanks
