    Auto Disconnect

    A user of ours installed a new ISP, and now his Dial-Up connection doesn't automatically disconnect. We went into the Properties to Enable the 'Disconnect if Idle" etc, but all these are disabled (i.e., they can't receive focus). Is there another way of enabling AutoDisconnect? How is it that they options are no longer available (and can they be reenabled?).

    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Also was there any ISP software installed?
    Some of these take control of your machine, AOL, Juno, and MSN only to name a few.

    Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Re: Auto Disconnect

    Dave,

    Found this thread from a search... Hoping this "reply" would be noticed so I don't have to add another thread with the same subject.

    Was overjoyed to see "Dump That Connection" in WWW #4.20, figuring I finally found a way to auto-disconnect when I fell asleep surfing. But, alas, nothing in the article applied to my Conexant HCF V90 56K RTAD (???) modem on XPhome. I have been able to find where the setting is buried (Control Panel-Phone and Modem Options-Modem.Tab-Properties-Advanced.Tab-Change Default Preferences-General.Tab) but the setting is disabled. And yes, my ISP is msn.
    ::ucking & Running:::

    Anyone have any idea why; and, if possible, how to correct it ?

    Thanx,
    BobM.

    "And yes, my ISP is msn", contact MSN and ask, they will not provide info to a person not running MSN.

    Thanks Dave... but those chowderheads know less than I do... or I get a runaround.
