I recently got a new computer with Windows 7, 64-bit.

There is a program that worked fine on my previous XP Home machine.

It was a program that I wrote in QB and compiled into an .exe file.

It refuses to run on this 64-bit machine. Is there anything I can try?

You can try XP Mode (You do not mention which version of Win 7, need Pro or higher for this) or a virtual environment. There are several other threads which discuss similar situations.

Most likely the .exe file is a 16-bit app, which will not run on 64-bit Windows. Running within a 32-bit virtual machine (as Ted suggested) or perhaps using DOSBox (if the app is not a Windows app) are your best bets.

By the way, I assume by "QB" you mean QBasic (and not "quarterback"). I looked at the QBasic site and they appear to have a 640bit version - if you still have the sources you could try recompiling.

I tried XP/SP3 compatability mode. I still get the same error: the version of this program is not compatible with the version of Windows...etc. etc. I am not using W7 Pro.

I will check out the other threads.
