    my sons dell monitor changes color. goes from normal to a reddish pink and then will go back to normal. Has been doing it for a couple of months. Help please.

    Also my granddaughters laptop doesn't always shut down. She shuts it down and it starts right back up.

    If this is a CRT, it very likely means that the "Blue" and "Green" controls are going bad, eventually it will stay "Red". These older CRT's are unlikely to be repaired for a reasonable cost. It is my opinion that it should eventually be replaced by an LED display.

    If it has a removable cable you may try a different cable of the same type.

    Computers that re-start are just not playing ball possibly due to many things.
    The best way to make them behave is to re-load Windows (unfortunately).
    You could try creating a Linux boot CD and see if that will boot and then shut down properly.
    Go to the Ubuntu page and download the ISO. Burn it to a CD and boot from the CD.

    Have to agree, the monitor is going. Monitor pricing is becoming very reasonable today. Check on a new one.
