    Word 2007
I've used heading styles with multilevel indented lists in many versions of Word but in 2007 for some reason somethings broke. I can start a series of paragraphes with Heading 1 and they all number correctly but if I put a Heading 2 in after a Heading 1 the numbering starts over. For instance:

    1.0 Heading 1 level
    Body Text
    2.0 Heading 1 level
    Body Text
    3.0 Heading 1 level
    Body Text
    1.1 Heading 2 level << should be "3.1 Heading 2 level"
    Body Text
    4.0 Heading 1 level
    Body Text

I can't get it to follow the indent numbering even if I check "Contiunue from previous list"

    Thanks,
    Thanks,

Can you attach a 'sanitized' version of a document that illustrates the problem, so we can take a look?

Your list elements are defined as two separate lists and not one MultiLevel list which is what you need to have.

Put your cursor into the first Heading 1 in the document and then go to the Home tab. In the Paragraph group select the Multilevel List drop down and then select "Define New Multilevel List"
If the dialog that appears doesn't look like the attached graphic, click the More>>> button in the bottom left of the dialog.
Now define all of the list levels and link the level to a Style for each list level.
    When finished, click OK

You MUST remember to make any updates to any the list items by first clicking in a Heading 1 (the style that is linked to the level 1 list element) before returning to this dialog to tinker with changes.
