My documents often have a table of contents in them. They traditionally have had a ctrl-click ability, so you could go to the bookmark of that topic by holding the ctrl button and clicking on the entry.

All if a sudden, it is a single click that does this. And is that annoying, as sometimes I accidentally click on it and then have to return back to the TOC. Same document as yesterday, so apparently I changed something. But what? And where?

It's your hyperlink setting. In Word 2003, it's under the "Edit" options, a checkbox labeled "Use CTRL + Click to follow hyperlink". Not sure where this in in Word 2007's options dialog.

By the way, you can easily go "back" by pressing Alt + Left Arrow.

In Word 2007, that setting is under Word Options, Advanced tab, near the top.
