    I had a problem with my computer and tried to use System Restore. However, the only restore point is "Software Distribution Services 3.0". It shows up everyother day. There are no other points. What is going on?

    I am running XP 3.0. It has been working fine until now.

    System Restore might have gotten corrupt.You can try reinstalling the feature.Here's how;
    1)In control Panel or Windows Explorer,click Folders Options & then the view tab.
    2) Under Advanced Settings,scroll down & find "Show hidden files & folders".
    3) Find "Hide extensions for known files types". Uncheck that box.
    4) Click Apply,OK.
    5)In Windows Explorer,find your Windows folder (usually on the C: drive but not always). Navigate to the inf folder & open it.
    6) Find a file named sr.inf
    7) Right click the file & select Install.
    Note;Important,this creates a new installation of System Restore,but it will delete any restore point that you had created previously.

    When I had this problem, I was told there was a "worm" or trojan horse going around, and to go to BLEEPING COMPUTER
    where there was a solution for it. Hope the answer is still there for you. Good luck
