    Hi all,

My Word 2003 (on Win XP) has changed mode of response when I open an additional document, or create a new document in addition to an already open document.

Word always used to open a new Word application instance for the new document. Now, Word is instead inserting the new document into the existing Word app's workspace. (Btw, I think this is the way Word 97 used to work, and this is something that changed (improved) with Word 2000.)

Further, even if I try use the Windows Start menu to run a new instance of the Word app, the new document is opened in the workspace of the existing Word app.

    Ideas?

FYI, I have been doing a lot of Word VBA programming recently. Could I have messed up a setting?

    TIA

    Ok - I solved it.

I guessed that it was something to do with the MDI/SDI choice. So a quick google showed that this is controlled by the Windows in Taskbar option. See below.

On the Tools menu, click Options.
On the View tab, click to select (or click to clear) the Windows in Taskbar check box, and then click OK.
