I am using a Microsoft natural wireless 6000 mouse with win 7 and latest mouse software. When I mouse over an item, e.g.; dialog box, taskbar, hyperlink, whatever, the item will change appearance to show that it recognizes the cursor position. If I click immediately, nothing happens. If I wait a second it will work properly. This has been going on for a while. I don't have another mouse around to see if that makes a difference.

    Any suggestions on troubleshooting?

well, we can file this under "uh duh!"

battery power on wireless mouse appeared fine according to software. tried wired mouse and it worked fine. scratched, er, head.

saw that wireless transmitter was plugged into a USB external hub. A 1.0 USB hub. Plugged directly into 2.0 USB plug and mouse works fine.

Isn't it amazing the ways in which we can screw up!

thanks for the views and suggestion.
