I found under View > Encoding > Unicode (UTF-8), I'm wondering if this is the correct one to use.

Not being familar with what it does, I would like to know if something else should be selected instead?

I know curiosity killed the cat, but I say that statisfaction brought him back.

Ideally the web server will send a header before the page indicating the encoding that was intended to be used so that the browser can optimize rendering. If there is no header, a browser default of either UTF-8 or ISO-8859-1 usually is your best bet.

Was this prompted by an issue with a particular page?

No Jscher, I was in View checking some thing else and noticed the setting. I don't remember choosing it so if it was a default, I wanted to know if it was correct or if there was something better.
