printing fiasco

I'm having trouble printing from Visio 2000. The weirdness comes in printing files that have printed perfectly in the past! Suddenly, printing to the exact same printer (HP laserjet 5N) fonts have been stretched, letters printed over the top of each other, running outside shapes... Mangled, distorted and confused.
What's going on?

Win 98, and my hard drive is nice and clean.
It's a network printer.

You might try taking a look at Q300207 or Q287702. Microsoft seems to have retooled their on-line knowledgebase since yesterday and everything looks different, including the hyperlinks. These links are for Microsoft US, so you might have to track them down elsewhere if you're in another part of the world.

All three articles suggest the same thing that Dreamboat's post suggests, the printer drivers. You might try talking to your system administrator to find out if the drivers have been changed.

Technet describes several printing issues with HP products due to drivers. What version of Windows? Unfortunately, the search in Technet hasn't worked for me all day. Anyone else?

Also, make sure your hard drive is cleaned up:

Thanks Charlotte. It does seem to be a printer driver problem, even though the printer driver hasn't changed... If I swap it to Laserjet III it prints okay, but then I have to remember to change it back when I'm done.
I hate printer driver problems.
