Last night I put my computer to sleep with my email program open and about 1/2 hour latger I received an email.

I always thought when in sleep mode your internet connection was disabled.
At least that's how it worked in XP.....

Anyone notice that happening to them?

From cravingtech.com: Fix Windows Vista/7 Sleep mode from waking up by itself...

To find out what event/device woke up your Windows from its sleep state, go to command prompt (type cmd on the Run/Search box and press ENTER), then type this:
    powercfg – lastwake

To get the most detailed info (and probably easiest) on the device that wakes your Windows up during the sleep, type:
    powercfg –devicequery wake_armed

There! You’ll find the culprit I clicked my mouse to wake my Windows up intentionally so that’s why you see an HID compliant mouse on the screenshot above. Yours might be different.

I'll look and see but my computer didn't wake up.
It just signaled I had an email and I then woke it up to see what the email was.

You don't get internet activity, or any activity for that matter while in sleep mode.
Either your computer "woke up" for this or it didn't.

I just tried to replicate the problem but it didn't do it.
If it happens again I'll post about it.
