Jumping to next page (Word 2000)

    Hi
The other day my colleague had a problem with Word. She was several pages into her typing and got approx 1/2 way down the page when she pressed the Enter key. Instead of starting a new line, as you would expect!, Word jumped to a new page. We switched the paragraph markers to visible but there was nothing in the second 1/2 of the page, and no way Word was going to let up put anything in there either!. The page setup was correct and no other settings had been changed. We put it down to experience and she started a new document from scratch.
Now I have had the same problem! I am several pages into my document tabbed to add a new line to my table and the same thing has happened. Word has jumped the next Row of the Table onto a new page. Help! <img src=/S/surrender.gif border=0 alt=surrender width=31 height=23> I give up! <img src=/S/surrender.gif border=0 alt=surrender width=31 height=23> Please don't say I have to start the whole thing again! <img src=/S/grovel.gif border=0 alt=grovel width=31 height=23>

I've had a similar experience where the footer was the problem. It was HUGE! Might be something to check.

Nope! Nothing wrong with footer, normal size. Thanks anyway <img src=/S/scratch.gif border=0 alt=scratch width=25 height=29>

    Hi Dizi,

Go to Format/Paragraph and check the Line and Page Breaks formats for the table rows. Also check the Row Height in Table/Table Properties.

Otherwise, perhaps you could post an example for us to take a look at? e.g. delete the information before the table and erase the table content if it contains sensitive information.

Please feel free to have a look. Nothing sensitive but only sent part of file due to size. I am completely stumped. Have copied all text except the table and pasted in a new document, added a new table and that works fine. It seems to be a problem with the file not the table. If I take the tick out of the Drawings box in Tools, Options, View, Print and Web layout options, the table works fine. See what you think

    Hi Dizi,

Change the wrapping style of the graphic so the text wraps above and below and you'll see about 11 extra paragraph marks that are causing the table to be "pushed" down the page. Although you don't see it on the screen they will add some extra space when you print the page, therefore causing the next line/row of the table to move to the next page.

Actually, if you just move the graphic slightly, the paragraph marks will no longer be able to "wrap under" the graphic and will appear below it. Then you'll see what Word is actually "seeing" and the table will move down.

I use the following as a general rule in Word and so far it hasn't failed me: "Only use a paragraph mark to end a paragraph. Empty paragraphs will cause headaches every time! <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15> )

    Hi Bam

    Hello,
I am having this problem but cannot make sense from this reply how to fix it. The exact issue your friend faced happened to me the other day. When I tried to create a new document the paragraph jumps to the bottom of the page and suddenly I have approximately 6 blank pages added to the project.

Why don't you attach a copy of a document that's causing problems & we'll take a look at it?

Thanks you but it seems I found the fix on another posting. I had justified in the vertical alignment instead of top. Once I adjusted this the problems seems fixed. Now I go to the forum to fix my microsoft home publishing 2000, know anything about this program? It will not work due to invalid page faults. <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20> Since this isn't the proper forum for this problem can you write me? Thanks.
