    Converting wmv format

I recently made a time-lapse webcam video at 1 frame a second, using Windows Media 8 format. It looked great, and gave a very compact filesize. Unfortunately I can only play it back in real time - 1 frame a second, and can't even find a way of jumping to the part I want, which is a bit of a nuisance for a recording of several hours! Anyone know how I can change the recording to play back at, say, 25fps? I posted this question on the WindowsMedia newsgroups, and after two months haven't had a single reply. Are there any other forums I could try? Any software that might do it? Affordable, that it. This is an amateur effort. I can't afford, say, $500 for professional video editing software.
    Thanks.

Thanks. That looks like a great resource. I hope I'm not the first person ever to ask about this...
