After reading Woody's article on IE9 I tried to download it to have a look. I have been trying for two days to download by various means without success. All I get is a blank page. Is the beta so popular that the download site is overloaded? Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Remember, it only works in Windows 7.

    I'm using win 7 64 bit.

One of the things I don't like is that you can't run it without removing IE8..

I am downloading to Windows 7 x64. I downloaded IE9 successfully just now to my netbook, which is running Windows 7 Starter 32-bit. Problem with my Yahoo! toolbar, but other things I tried are OK.I then tried downloading to my laptop, which is also running Windows 7 x64, and got the same problem as with the desktop.

I have had great success with Win 7 and IE 9. IE 9 seems faster, is pretty stable and has a few glitches although they seem very minor and this is a beta after all, and early release at that. It seems very good for such an early beta. I would highly recommend trying it.

Well, from what everyone says maybe it's worth a shot trying.

I can always make an image and if IE9 screws things up I can restore the image..

Usually, I like to wait before trying a Beta especially one that's so new.

They are both using Home Premium.

Incidentally I tried to provide feedback to the beta team on this problem but was put off by the unnecessarily bureaucratic 'obstacles' Microsoft created. Don't they want feedback?

Eureka! I managed to get a working download link from the UK Technet site http://technet.micro...ie/default.aspx. Problem solved.

Update: I have just checked the link in Woody's IE9 article and the download site it takes you to is working this morning. I have been working with computers for 50 years. It was ever thus!!! Anyway, nice talking to you DaveA.

    Computers save you time?

I wonder if the download servers were so overloaded that this is what caused your problems. I have seen this on other sites as well. It seems IE 9 has gotten a lot of press and many are trying it.

I agree, this is the most likely answer. The site seems to have been getting hammered. Is this a sign of renewed confidence in Microsoft following the success of Windows 7?

I believe it is. So far Win 7 has been a Grand Slam Homerun (sorry for the American baseball terminology), and IE 9 is looking like it may be as well. Yes it is still early in the beta for this browser, but so far so good, and it does appear many are trying it on for size.
