I have an irritation; nothing I cannot work with, but still........

When I am entering information into a cell, and I notice an error, I am in the habit of backspacing and correcting the error. After all, it works in Word, which I use more than Excel. As all of you know, this merely moves the cursor to the cell to the left. (And it is even more disconcerting when you want to go to the start of the entry and absently hit "Home".

So, is there a keyboard way of backspacing or going home to keep editing in the cell?

The behaviour you want should be there if you are in edit mode.

You can get into edit mode by dbl-clicking the cell or hitting <F2> key. In edit mode, the backspace, right and left arrows move, <Home>, and <End> move within the text of the cell. When outside of edit mode, those keys work on the sheet...

I was well aware of the double click to edit a cell; but I did not know about <F2>. Thanks.

Still, it would be nice if there was a way to be able to be in edit mode all the time. Or at least, with respect to backspace and home.

If I hit backspace in Excel, it clears the cell and leaves me in Edit mode, as normal. Is that not what yours does?

If you were in edit mode all the time it would make moving around the worksheet problematic....
