Several times a day I get a low and muffled sound of a galloping horse coming through my speakers that last for a few seconds and then stops.

I dual boot with XP on a second hard drive and it doesn't happen when I am in XP...Only in W7...

Anyone know how to lasso and corral this beast?

Does this happen with regularity such that it could be a shceduled task?

Have you checked your system sounds?

    No, it just happens sporadicly.
It happened this morning but not since then.

Funny, it just happened as I was typing this reply.

I haven't checked system sounds but I will.
I never heard that sound in system sounds but I'll look.

Is your cell phone next to your computer? I sometimes get noises like that from my cell phone.

Yes, my cell is on top of my PC because I charge it via USB...

Maybe I'll move it and see what happens...

Well Rich, My cell has been unplugged from the USB charger since yesterday and no more horses.
I'm gonna plug it back in and see what happens..

    Thanks for your suggestion.

Sounds like you have the horses corraled.

    I'll see.
I just plugged the phone back in and if it does it again then It's safe to assume it's the phone.

By the way, with mine, it doesn't have to be plugged in, just needs to be in close proximity to the speakers.
